Joe Taraska
Following a sterling career of service with the United States Air Force, Attorney Joseph Taraska has built a remarkable reputation in Florida as a litigator specializing in medical malpractice and product liability. Currently an expert in health law and complex litigation at Morgan & Morgan, P.A., in Orlando, he draws on a deep well of experience in the legal and medical fields. Attorney Joseph Taraska's areas of specialty include nursing home abuse, hospital bylaws, pharmaceutical defects, hospital risk management, state medical licensing, insurance law, and civil rights. Some recent cases won by Attorney Joseph Taraska are a defective drug matter that involved a fatality and resulted in a payout of $13.3 million, and a medical malpractice case that reached a settlement in the amount of $28 million. Attorney Joseph Taraska currently represents parties involved in statewide tobacco litigation. Before coming to Morgan & Morgan, P.A. in 2009, Attorney Joseph Taraska headed the health law division of Jacobs & Goodman, P.A., in Altamonte Springs, starting in 2000. For 16 years prior to that, Attorney Joseph Taraska tackled medical lawsuits on behalf of both patients and hospitals as the Founding Partner of several Orlando-based law firms, among them Taraska, Grower, Ketcham, P.A.; Taraska, Grower, Unger & Ketcham, P.A.; Taraska, Hill, & Grower, P.A.; and Taraska & Hill, P.A. He started private practice as an Associate and subsequently a Partner at the firm of Maguire, Voorhis, and Wells, P.A. Part of Attorney Joseph Taraska’s training in medical law occurred in the Air Force, where he won the rare opportunity to study anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and hospital administration with the Air Force Eastern Regional Medical Center and the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP). This experience allowed him to become one of just six Forensic Medical/Legal Consultants in that branch of the military. Attorney Joseph Taraska continues to expand his base of expertise in medical issues through his membership with the Health Law Section of the Florida Bar and the Florida Hospital Bioethics Network. He also has memberships in the National Health Law Association, the American Association for Justice, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, and the Defense Research Institute.
