Dr. G. Philip Spencer
Dr. G. Philip Spencer has practiced periodontics in Austin, Texas, for 20-plus years. Dr. Spencer’s preparation for his specialty, treating infections in the periodontal ligament, alveolar bone, cementum, and gingiva, which can lead to tooth loss, required 10 years of schooling. Dr. G. Philip Spencer enrolled in the premed and predental program at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. His academic excellence and performance as a biology teaching assistant led to membership in Alpha Epsilon Delta, Inc., the national health preprofessional honor society, and Beta Beta Beta, the national biological honor society.
After graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, Dr. G. Philip Spencer was accepted by the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. Dr. Spencer finished in the top 10 percent of his class with a Doctor of Dental Surgery and was honored with the Senior Student Award in Orthodontics. Dr. Spencer then went on for postdoctoral training and another undergraduate teaching assistantship at the Dental School of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and was granted a Certificate in Periodontics.
Dr. G. Philip Spencer’s professional affiliations include the Southwest Society of Periodontists, American Academy of Periodontology, Tenth District Dental Society, and Texas Dental Association.
