Dr. Jay Grossman
Dr. Jay Grossman is the founder of Homeless Not Toothless, a non-profit group dedicated to providing free dental care for underserved individuals. Established in 1992 and based in Brentwood, California, Dr. Grossman's program continues to uphold its commitment to assisting people who would otherwise not have access to regular dental care.
Dr. Jay Grossman has brought together nearly three dozen dental offices from the greater Los Angeles area to participate in Homeless Not Toothless. Various dental supply companies and a team of volunteer dentists contribute and donate materials and time to support this free dental service. Since founding Homeless Not Toothless, Dr. Jay Grossman has seen the venture provide $2 million in dental care to individuals in need.
Most of the patients are referred to Homeless Not Toothless by the Venice Family Clinic and local shelters. Dr. Jay Grossman has elicited the support of various Hollywood notables such as Sharon Stone in order to expand this dental care outreach program. Presently, they are committed to providing a dental and medical clinic for some 28,000 children in foster care in the area.
Starting as early as his days as a student at New York University, Dr. Jay Grossman has aspired to help people in a truly substantive manner. Through Homeless Not Toothless, he has found a way to make a real difference in people’s lives.
Dr. Jay Grossman has been named KNX Hero of the Week twice, and he also received the American Dental Association Community Preventive Dentistry Award. The U.S. Navy also officially acknowledged his generous philanthropic efforts. Dr. Jay Grossman has additionally received extensive press coverage for his community dental program, appearing in major publications such as Time, People, Smithsonian, Sports Illustrated, and Better Homes and Gardens.
Dr. Jay Grossman earned his D.D.S. from New York University at the age of 23, and completed his residency at NYU as well. Dr. Jay Grossman is a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and Western Los Angeles Dental Society. In addition, he maintains professional affiliations with the Peer Review Committee for the American Dental Association in West Los Angeles and the Peer Review Committee for Delta Dental.
