Christopher Zoukis

A PEN American Center award-winning author, Christopher Zoukis was recently granted Second Place in Drama for his piece “Healing Bin Laden” and Honorable Mention in Fiction for “Jesusland” in the 2011 Prison Writing Contest. The PEN American Center, however, is not the only professional writing organization with which Zoukis holds affiliation; he maintains additional memberships with the National Writers Union, the Correctional Education Association, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the Long Ridge Writers Group mentorship program. A published author of a wide collection of poems, essays, articles, and book reviews, he just completed his first book, Education Behind Bars, which is scheduled to debut December 2011. A 650+ page informational resource on distance education for prisoners pursing academic opportunities and prison educators who desire to know more about their field, the book is soon to be followed by Christopher Zoukis’ next work, Practice Electra, which is still in development. In 2006, Christopher Zoukis was sentenced to probation for the charge of Indecent Liberties with a Minor, a conviction set in play in response to his consensual relations with a female from his high school. However, due to a violation of his order, he was incarcerated during his senior year of high school and has remained a resident of Petersburg Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) ever since. Although his first two years behind bars were grim and uneasy, Christopher Zoukis reversed his thoughts and actions to reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ. A devout Christian, he commenced daily Bible study in 2008 and has since accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. While in FCC, Zoukis has spent his time as a student at Global University, earning a Certified Minister Certificate, and in 2010, Christopher Zoukis obtained a Personal Ministry and Leadership Series Certificate from the Moody Bible Institute.
