Larry Starr Longboat Key
Throughout his professional career, Larry Starr has demonstrated a strong ability to foster business ventures in incipient markets. Upon completing his College studies, Larry Starr opened a Cellular One franchise in Sarasota, Florida. Taking advantage of this new technology, Larry Starr was able to take an early lead in the market before selling these assets in 1988. Larry Starr used these funds to buy the vacation rental property company Longboat Accommodations, which was based out of Longboat Key, Florida. This market was long neglected due to the intensive logistical planning required to meet the needs of both property owners and renters. Due to his hard work and emphasis on marketing, Larry Starr was able to expand the company’s scope of operations to hundreds of properties. Larry Starr renamed his business Florida Vacation Accommodations in 1999, inaugurating a period in which his company came to be Florida’s largest vacation rental service on the Gulf Coast. This success attracted ResortQuest International, which bought Larry Starr’s business in 2001 with the agreement to hire him as President of the company’s Southwest Florida division. As of 2009, Larry Starr has worked as President of Resort Vacation Accommodations, which is affiliated with ResortQuest International. This company offers guests a choice of condominiums, private vacation home accommodations, and resorts on Longboat Key, Lido Key, Anna Maria Island, and other Florida locations.
