Vanda Vitali
Dr. Vanda Vitali is a museum executive with professional experience that has been gained from working internationally. Currently a Senior Advisor for IPT in Los Angeles, Dr. Vanda Vitali’s background includes positions as Vice President of Public Programs at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, California and as Director and CEO at the Auckland Museum, New Zealand. Dr. Vanda Vitali earned her Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry and Fine Art History from the University of Toronto, Canada, in 1980. She subsequently received her Master of Applied Science in 1982 and her Ph.D. in 1985 from the University of Toronto. Dr. Vanda Vitali continued her postdoctoral education at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences in France. She served as a Senior Research Scientist at universities in France and Canada from 1981 until 1993. She has lectured widely on museum studies in Canada, France and the US since 1985. Dr. Vanda Vitali has an extensive background as a consultant for heritage-based policies and practices, and has worked in countries such as the United States, Greece, Cyprus, Syria, Tunisia, and France. Throughout the 1990s, Dr. Vanda Vitali functioned as a director, designer, and leader on international museum projects, including those for the Institute of the Arab World in Paris and the Museum of Carthage in Tunisia. Dr. Vitali is a member of various professional organizations, including the Sigma Xi, the Canadian Museums Association, the International Council of Museums, and the Canadian Association for Conservation of Cultural Property. She is also a member of the board at the California/International Arts Foundation in Los Angeles.
