Jeffery Leving
A graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology's Chicago-Kent College of Law, Jeffery Leving earned his Juris Doctor in 1979. In the years since, Mr. Leving has established a reputation as one of the leading family and matrimonial law attorneys in the country and one of “America's Best Lawyers” according to Forbes Radio. Overseeing the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving, Ltd., he holds licensure to practice law in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the state of Illinois, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Leving maintains active memberships with the American Bar Association, the Federal Trial Bar, the Illinois State Bar Association, and The Decalogue Society of Lawyers, as well as several county bar associations in Illinois.
Jeffery Leving has shared his vast experience in Family Law in two books on divorce titled Father's Rights: Hard-Hitting and Fair Advice for Every Father Involved in a Custody Dispute and Divorce Wars: A Field Guide to the Winning Tactics, Preemptive Strikes, and the Top Maneuvers When Divorce Gets Ugly. He also founded and publishes Leving's Divorce Magazine, a periodical that addresses issues relevant to divorced men.
In addition to maintaining his law practice and publishing his books and magazine, Jeffery Leving has helped to strengthen and in some cases establish the laws and rights relating to divorced persons. He has co-authored a number of recent Illinois laws, such as the Right to DNA Testing Notice, Illinois Virtual Visitation, and the Unlawful Visitation or Parenting Time Interference Laws. He also co-authored the Illinois Joint Custody Law and has provided testimony to both houses of the Illinois state legislature on family law issues.
Jeffery Leving was appointed Chairman of the Illinois Council on Responsible Fatherhood by the governor of Illinois, and he now serves as the President Emeritus of the Fatherhood Educational Institute, which was established to encourage fathers in underserved communities to embrace parenthood.
