Dr. Steven Afsahi invented a bleaching orthodontic retainer called the Afsahi Appliance, a preformed orthodontic device that fits in a patient’s mouth to move the teeth to the desired position. A resident of McLean, Virginia, Dr. Steven Afsahi acted as Senior Orthodontist in seven different practices in addition to maintaining his own, located in nearby Vienna. Throughout his career, he has served in practices in various locations in and around Washington, D.C., including Rockville, Maryland, and in the Virginia cities of Fredericksburg, Manassas, Woodbridge, and Tysons Corner.

During his accomplished career, Dr. Steven Afsahi has seen more than 9,000 patients and provided them with outstanding service in adult orthodontia and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder therapy and treatment. Dr. Steven Afsahi enjoys a well-deserved reputation in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area as a professional, knowledgeable, caring orthodontist.

In 2006, Dr. Steven Afsahi took a sabbatical from his busy private practice and traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he instructed an elite group of dentists in the practice of orthodontics.

In addition to his practice and teaching work, Dr. Steven Afsahi has authored numerous articles in his field that have appeared in prestigious professional journals. One such piece, “Protection by latex or vinyl gloves against cytotoxicity of direct bonding adhesives,” was published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. In addition, Dr. Steven Afsahi belongs to various professional organizations, which keeps him current in his field. He maintains membership in the American Dental Association, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists.
