Moola4Books
Richard L. Rutledge and Daniel A. Gumbert started Moola4Books.com, the online division of Avenue Book & Company, in 2008. The management team created Surplus Towne, LLC, which serves as the parent company for the brick and mortar firm Avenue Book & Company and the virtual retail center Moola4Books.com. The latter company specializes in the purchase of used textbooks across the United States. Moola4Books.com takes advantage of the Internet’s national reach and the capability of the United States Postal Service (USPS) to provide a book buyback program to people across the country.
No matter their location within the United States, customers can request an online quote for any used book on Moola4Books.com by entering the International Standard Book Number (ISBN) found on the back of the book. The 10- to 13-digit ISBN will give Moola4Books.com all of the information needed to make the customer an offer for purchase. Once the total is calculated, clients will attach the printable shipping label on the package containing their used books. They can then choose to send the parcel via the USPS, FedEx, or another shipping company. Moola4Books.com does not affix a charge to use USPS or for orders of $40 or more through FedEx.
Moola4Books.com employs inspectors at its warehouse who receive and inspect the package. The employees ensure that the proper books were sent and that they arrive in an acceptable condition. Moola4Books.com cannot accept books that are damaged from water, fire, smoke, or any other factor that has caused deterioration. They also will not accept books with torn or missing pages; damaged covers or binders; or excessive highlighting, writing, or other marks. Once inspection is completed and the books are deemed acceptable, Moola4Books.com issues payment within one business day.
As the co-founder of Moola4Books.com, Richard A. Rutledge is responsible for the operations of the business. His duties include managing employees, accounts, facilities, and general operations. At Moola4Books.com, Mr. Rutledge also oversees marketing and public relations, relationships with suppliers and vendors, and the procurement of inventory and investments needed to continue the business.
