Rolf Ackermann
Rolf Ackermann is a technical professional with over 15 years of research and development and marketing experience. Mr. Ackermann’s strengths lie in liaising between technical and non-technical staff and providing interpretations of technology concepts and terms to a number of audiences. He currently serves as Vice President of Research, Development, and Marketing at Rock Solid Images (RSI), a consulting firm based in Houston that offers quantitative estimates for drilling companies seeking to extract natural resources from geologic reservoirs. Before attaining his current position at RSI, Rolf Ackermann was a technical marketing consultant for the company in the area of geophysical analysis.
Prior to joining RSI, Rolf Ackermann was a Strategic Marketing Engineer for BP through Brookwoods Group, and worked on marketing the company’s energy and petroleum technology. At Landmark Graphics, a division of Halliburton, Mr. Ackermann served as a product manager for two of the company’s software infrastructure products and guided them through the development life cycle.
He also managed a data management project with the Norwegian energy company Statoil. Rolf Ackermann entered marketing and software development with Beicip, Inc, an international oil and gas consulting and computer software company, where he directed and managed the company’s marketing budget in North America. Before joining Beicip, Mr. Ackermann worked for ExxonMobil as a Senior Research Geologist within their Upstream Research Company.
Rolf Ackermann holds a PhD in Geology with a specialization in Structural Geology from Rutgers University, where he wrote his dissertation on "Spatial Distribution of Rift-Related Fractures: Field Observations, Experimental Modeling, and Influence on Drainage Networks." He also earned a Master of Science in Geology, specializing in River Engineering, from Rutgers.
