Rob Semaan
Businessman Rob Semaan has founded a number of companies throughout his career, including a software developer and an Internet service provider. More recently, he launched fig., a body-shaping clinic with centers operating out of many urban areas throughout the United States. The company began in 2005, offering services from a physician’s office near St. Louis, Missouri. Patients at this office were able to receive Advanced LipoDissolve treatments on a small scale. As a result of the clinic’s success, Rob Semaan began expanding the practice while refining the business plan and concept. By January 2006, expansion of fig. began to take off, in conjunction with active marketing. That same year, Rob Semaan opened new centers in Kansas City, Las Vegas, and Scottsdale. The Advanced LipoDissolve procedure was so popular that new centers were booking appointments before they officially opened. As a result, Rob Semaan was able to recover all capital used for the initial start-up within 8 to 10 weeks. With four centers providing a generous cash flow, Semaan began developing the business even more, adding additional services, developing new medical technologies, and launching a research firm in order to strengthen fig.’s reputation as a leader in the industry. In addition, Rob Semaan began adding experienced entrepreneurs and executives to his staff in order to ensure success. The company expanded into Houston, Dallas, and Atlanta, and opened two new centers in St. Louis with a total employee base of 500. As a testament to the company’s abilities, Bessemer Venture Partners invested eleven million dollars in the endeavor. Prior to establishing fig., Rob Semaan studied business and law in Australia, where he regularly earned placement on the Dean’s list and graduated with honors and was named Australian Business Student of the Year by BRW magazine. He garnered additional legal success with the International Trade and Customs practice group at Baker & McKenzie and in the Intellectual Property and Information Technology groups with Gilbert & Tobin. He moved to the United States in order to explore various business ventures.
