Jeffery Fraser

Over the years, Internet entrepreneur Jeffery Fraser has distinguished himself as the successful leader of business technology company NIC, Inc. The company began in 1991 as a combination of multiple entities, including the Kansas Information Consortium and the National Information Consortium. These companies provided the necessary technology to allow individuals and companies to conduct business with governments in an online forum, and they combined to form NIC in 1998.

In 1999, NIC became publicly traded via NASDAQ. Jeffery Fraser retired as Chief Executive Officer the same year, returning by request in 2002 to engineer the company's recovery when the business technology crisis of the time threatened its survival. Mr. Fraser’s success in this endeavor led to his receipt of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2004. He continued to serve with NIC before retiring a second time in 2008.

Prior to founding NIC, Inc. and its related companies, Jeffery Fraser earned a Master of Science in Information Systems from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. He had previously received a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources from the same institution. While studying at Friends University, Jeffery Fraser worked with AT&T in Wichita, gaining practical experience while completing his formal education. Mr. Fraser preceded these studies with approximately nine years in Colorado and Utah, prior to which he studied for three years at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas.

Now retired and living with his family in Wyoming and Alaska, Jeffery Fraser continues to pursue such active interests as rock climbing, paragliding, and snowboarding. He also holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with jet ratings, and participates in bird dog field training.
