Ameerah Cetawayo
While enrolled at Western Kentucky University (WKU) in Bowling Green, Ameerah Cetawayo displayed a number of talents and an impressive work ethic. Ms. Cetawayo's diligence as a student at WKU resulted in a 3.5 grade-point average and a first-place finish at the 2005 Kentucky Associated Press Student TV News Competition. Ameerah Cetawayo completed her studies at WKU that same year, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. After graduation, Ms. Cetawayo continued working with the Bowling Green Human Rights Commission in a position she had held since 2004. As host and producer of the nonprofit organization’s New Horizons talk show, Ameerah Cetawayo showcased a variety of public affairs issues.
As a Business Reporter for the Bowling Green Daily News from 2006 to 2008, Ameerah Cetawayo investigated consumer concerns and economic developments. She compiled facts, statistics, and information from interviews with her many contacts into tight, concise stories for publication. Ms. Cetawayo also created a series on personal finance, a weekly business column, and other business-related news stories. She served as a Radio News Anchor for WKCT-AM, the broadcasting division of the newspaper, during this time as well.
Ameerah Cetawayo relocated to New York in 2008, enrolling in The College of Saint Rose, from which she obtained a Master of Business Administration in 2009. While in New York, she worked first as a News Producer for WNYT-NBC television and then as a Business Reporter for The Daily Gazette, a newspaper covering six New York counties. Ameerah Cetawayo then shifted her focus to public relations work. Upon moving to St. Louis, Missouri, she served with a variety of businesses in public relations and fundraising consulting. Currently, she functions as the Public Relations Coordinator with St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors System. Her work, which includes marketing and graphic design, encompasses the senior communities, charitable foundation, and dozens of other entities owned by St. Andrew’s.
