Frank Coppa
For decades, Frank Coppa has lent his time and money to the greater good of his community. Known to his family and friends as a compassionate and philanthropic individual, he is proud of his numerous good deeds. One of his biggest philanthropic contributions was his donations and volunteer work for United Cerebral Palsy of New York. Mr. Coppa helped organize telethons, donated presents to children at Christmastime, and raised funds for youngsters affected by cerebral palsy. In the 1970s, Frank Coppa and his father raised money for the youth in local neighborhoods. With the belief that sportsmanship and outdoor activities help children stay out of trouble, he successfully secured donations to build baseball fields in New Springfield, Staten Island, and Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. In 1982, Mr. Coppa donated a school bus to Tottenville High School that transported athletes to and from games.
A committed Christian, Frank Coppa served as treasurer of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Staten Island. He also raised money for church improvements and organized a student scholarship fund for through the church’s school. In 1988, Mr. Coppa helped rebuild the First Baptist Church in Durham, North Carolina. After the church was reopened, he donated a baby grand piano to the choir.
Proud of his ethnic heritage, Frank Coppa was a member of the Bisceglie Mutual Society & Family Club for 32 years. Through this club, he and other members visited hospitals during the holidays and served Thanksgiving dinners to families in need at local soup kitchens.
