Ahmed Elgheur
Ahmed Elgheur founded Elger EnergySystems in New York City in 2007. Elger EnergySystems specializes in the development of renewable energy systems, including solar, wind, thermal, and geothermal innovations. As the Executive Officer of Elger Group, Ahmed Elgheur makes all decisions regarding the company's department activities as well as planning, coordinating, and executing new projects. He also provides financing for customers of Elger EnergySystems, including leasing and power purchase agreements.
Formerly a New York City cab driver, Ahmed Elgheur was inspired to begin his career in the renewable energy industry when he gave a cab ride to a charismatic California businessman who was involved in the financing of solar projects overseas. While speaking with the businessman, Mr. Elgheur learned of renewable energy systems such as solar and wind systems and their benefits to people and the environment, as well as the problematic reliance on fossil energy, and the conflicts that have arisen from demand for traditional energy products. As a result of this meeting, Ahmed Elgheur discovered a passion for making a difference in the world by helping to provide free and continuous energy. He then began his education on the various aspects of electricity and renewable energies. A few months later, he joined a friend's solar company and assisted for a year with the installation of solar projects, until founding Elger EnergySystems.
Ahmed Elgheur is a supporter of St. John's University, the New York Presbyterian Hospital, the Cancer Research Institute, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and the Center for Victims of Torture. In order to maintain an active lifestyle, Ahmed Elgheur enjoys running, scuba diving, and sailing.
