Originally conceived by the mayor of Joliet, Illinois; Patrick C. Haley in 1889, the Patrick Haley Mansion still remains as an important historical site in the Chicagoland area to this day. Patrick C. Haley hired architect Frank Shaver Allen to construct and design his concept for a castle on the hill overlooking the city below. Under Allen’s direction, The Patrick Haley Mansion was completed in 1893, as a stately limestone structure with three and a half stories.
