Michael Torney
A sports enthusiast, Michael Torney is an avid golfer, scuba diver, and snowboarder who played on the Rider University Boys Lacrosse Team as an undergraduate. Currently attending Washington University School of Law, Michael Torney recently hosted a soccer match for disabled adults sponsored by St. Louis Arc, a nonprofit, United Way agency. While studying Communications at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Michael Torney was named Greek New Member of the Year. In subsequent years, he held positions as Recruitment Coordinator and President of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He won a spot on the Dean’s List and received Communication Honors in 2006-2007. The Order of Omega Honor Society and Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society also admitted Michael Torney to their ranks during the same year. Michael Torney later left Rider University to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Government at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. After graduating with his B.A. in 2009, Michael Torney accepted a yearlong position as a clerk for the Law Offices of Edward J. Bilinkas in Randolph, New Jersey. Michael Torney carried out administrative duties but also capitalized on opportunities to conduct case analyses, interview witnesses, write and present summaries, and draft closing arguments. After gaining experience as a legal clerk, Michael Torney enrolled in Washington University School of Law in St. Louis in 2010. Michael Torney made the Dean’s List and also earned recognition for co-sponsoring the Washington University Law 2010 Food Drive. He holds membership in the New Jersey Parents Caucus, the New Jersey Association for Justice, and Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. Michael Torney will receive his Juris Doctor from Washington University School of Law in May 2013.
