Merlyn Knapp
Financial management expert Merlyn Knapp began his career while studying accounting at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1973, Merlyn Knapp continued his education by enrolling in the business program at Rockhurst College (now Rockhurst University) in Kansas City, Missouri. After earning his Master of Business Administration, Merlyn Knapp began advising various health care organizations, developing strategic business plans to reduce operating expenses, improve cash flow, and increase revenues. In 2003, Merlyn Knapp started contracting as a certified public accountant, providing financial consultation to hospitals and physician groups. In this capacity, Merlyn Knapp has served as the temporary Controller and Chief Financial Officer for these practices, working to improve accumulative earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. Through initiating feasibility studies that evaluate a health care organization’s business expansion potential, Merlyn Knapp provides plans to regulate spending in such fields as equipment acquisition, building construction and renovation, and bond issuance. Additionally, he offers skilled training and mentoring to staff members, improving work performance while ensuring effective implementation of budgets, schedules, and strategies. Since first going into business for himself, Merlyn Knapp has successfully completed a number of projects, reporting a total of more than $100 million in improved financial arrangements. Furthermore, his fiscal outlines regularly result in a cash flow increase that ranges between $600,000 and $2 million. Merlyn Knapp serves as a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives. He also holds membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. When not working, Merlyn Knapp resides in Celina, Texas, where he enjoys golfing and supports the Boy Scouts of America.
