LJ McCreary
LJ McCreary, principal and owner of McCreary Homes, Inc., based in Tucson, Arizona, has over 20 years of experience as a custom luxury home builder. McCreary studied at the University of Arizona, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. From 1984 to 1986, LJ McCreary was Vice President of Catalyst Development Company, involved in land development in Pottsboro, Texas, where he spearheaded a multi-use development project spanning 110 acres in North Texas. He generated and supervised the design process, and he oversaw the building of utilities and roads. Additionally, McCreary was in charge of marketing the project, laying out the subdivisions, and attracting prospective tenants for the new shopping center. After two successful years with Catalyst, he returned home to Tucson.
For the next two years, LJ McCreary created custom furniture with Out of the Woodwork, his own woodworking company. He personally handled the designing, building, and sales of his hand-crafted mesquite creations, selling to small businesses and locals interested in quality furniture. Then in 1988, LJ McCreary made his foray into the world of custom-home design. McCreary Homes, Inc., puts its customers in contact with excellent architects, gives financial estimates, and sees individuals through the entire construction process. McCreary is in charge of marketing, hiring employees, handling expenses, supervising the construction, and controlling for quality. He makes it a personal goal to provide solutions that improve the home’s quality beyond each customer’s expectations. McCreary understands the stress associated with buying a new home—often the most expensive purchase the buyer will ever make—so he places a focus on effective communication, making certain the client feels comfortable throughout the process.
In 2006, LJ McCreary was nominated for Custom Home Builder of the Year. He is a member in good standing of NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) and SAHBA (Southern Arizona Home Builders Association) as well as an original member of the SAHBA Custom Builder Council.
