As an Environmental Health and Safety Manager based in Florida, Gareth Lukey is on the cutting edge of the electronics recycling industry. His career as an environmental health and safety professional has brought experience in a number of different industries, including warehousing, construction/development, and manufacturing. In his current role within the recycling industry, Mr. Lukey is responsible for maintaining high workplace safety standards for his company, in Florida as well as in the firm’s eight North American facilities. Additionally, he uses “root cause analysis” to identify causes of safety hazards and implement actions to correct mistakes. He successfully developed training methods for employees that are now used in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. Gareth Lukey also serves as a corporate speaker at industry events, promoting standards for workplace safety and accountability.
Mr. Lukey received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health with honors in 1996 from the University of Salford in Great Britain. In 2011, he completed a Master of Public Health in Occupational Safety at the University of South Florida. He completed his Master’s degree with a 3.5 grade point average while working full-time and also achieving Quality, Environmental Health and Safety certifications for his firm.
Gareth Lukey gained previous experience with Waterfall Development & Real Estate in Dade City; Rampart Properties, Inc., in St. Petersburg; and BVG Incorporated in Tampa, all in the state of Florida. He also worked for the Halton Borough Council in Widnes, Cheshire, in the United Kingdom.
In his spare time, Gareth Lukey enjoys outrigger canoeing, soccer, and rugby, as well as nurturing an interest in the history of the Roman Empire and World War II.
