Dr. Margaret Sommerville
Dr. Margaret Sommerville brings more than 15 years of experience in clinical private practice to her role as Medical Director of Chevy Chase Dermatology, LLC in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, she offers patients a range of medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology services. Based on her commitment to continuing medical education, quality patient care, and safety record, Dr. Margaret Sommerville earned recognition from the Consumers’ Research Council of America as one of America’s Top Dermatologists.
Dr. Sommerville studied medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She completed her internship in internal medicine at the University of Michigan Health System and her residency in dermatology at the University of Missouri University Hospital. Prior to founding her current practice, Dr. Sommerville served as President and Medical Director of Vegas Valley Dermatology in Las Vegas.
In advising patients, Dr. Margaret Sommerville warns against giving undue credence to marketing tactics promoting unproven treatments and procedures. Instead, she conducts a thorough study of peer-reviewed literature before introducing new techniques and procedures to her practice. Dr. Sommerville carries a select offering of skincare products from highly reputable and innovative manufacturers.
In 2009, the American Biographical Institute chose Dr. Margaret Sommerville as Woman of the Year in Medicine & Healthcare. The following year, she gained recognition as one of the Leading Physicians of the World from the International Association of Dermatologists.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Sommerville supports a number of charitable endeavors, including the National Cancer Institute, Second Chance Employment Services, and Autism Speaks. A fan of classical music, she also enjoys learning foreign languages, cooking, and entertaining.
