William Berghold
After graduating from College of the Holy Cross in 1960, William D. Berghold began a 33-year career in the financial services industry, working initially as a stockbroker and later as a partner for prominent specialty brokerage firms. Mr. Berghold became a stockholder and officer of Hubschmen, Fleschner, Inc. in 1963, and a few years later he procured his own seat on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). William D. Berghold subsequently joined Hirshon Roth & Co. as a Partner, and subsequently took on the role of Partner at M.J. Meehan & Co., a brokerage firm dating back to the 1920s. Mr. Berghold served with M.J. Meehan for nine years before accepting a position as a Managing Partner for Stern Brothers & Co., a specialist firm. During this time, Mr. Berghold sat on the Allocation Committee, a subcommittee of the NYSE. He retired from the New York Stock Exchange in 1992, and from Stern Brothers in 1995. Throughout his career as a stock trader, William D. Berghold was active with numerous foundations and charitable organizations, including the M.J. Meehan Foundation. Mr. Berghold often took sabbaticals to perform community service for organizations such as Covenant House New York, the Hole in the Wall Camp in Ashford, Connecticut, and Camphill Village USA in Copake, New York. For more than 20 years, Mr. Berghold sat on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for Camphill Village USA. He also took charge of the Investment Committee during his tenure with the organization. Having since relocated to Montana, William D. Berghold now offers support to Camphill Village Minnesota, and he stays active by hiking, fishing, and working out at his local gym. He also enjoys playing duplicate bridge in his free time.
