Nijad Fares
Whether in the United States or his native Lebanon, Nijad Fares has dedicated his life to helping others. He gained this perspective early in life from his father Issam.
Nijad Fares immigrated to the United States in 1981, attending the University of Denver and earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Now living in Houston, he spends significant time and resources giving back to his community and supporting charitable causes throughout the world.
Recently, Mr. Fares contributed $250,000 to advancing scientific efforts through the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital. This donation is expected to help several million children and families with neurological disorders. The funds will also launch the Issam M. Fares Family Lectureship at the Texas Children’s Hospital, continuing Nijad Fares’ father’s legacy.
Mr. Fares has served on the Houston Mayor’s Advisory Board for International Affairs and Development. He has also contributed as a representative for the city’s Police Officers’ Pension System.
Outside of his home city in Texas, Nijad Fares contributes to several academic institutions. He participates as a Senior Board Member at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and he serves as a member of Tufts University’s Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine Board of Overseers.
Nijad Fares has received an American Arab Chamber of Commerce National Businessperson of the Year Award, and he has also been an honoree at The Arab American Cultural and Community Center’s Unity of Friendship Gala in Houston. Additionally, he appeared as an honoree at the Friends for the Prevention of Heart Disease and Stroke Gala.
Today, Mr. Fares actively serves as the Vice Chairman for the American Task Force for Lebanon.
