Charlotte Hatfield

Charlotte Hatfield has spent many years in teaching and leadership positions in higher education, and has a successful record of juried and professional publications and presentations. Some of these include: "Miniaturizing the Action Project Process," which was presented at the annual Higher Learning Commission, AQIP conference; "Chemical Operator Online Certificate," given at the annual Community Colleges of Appalachia conference; “The Velvet Ghetto: The Feminization of the Public Relations Profession,” which was the keynote address at the International Association of Business Communicator’s Canada District 2 Leadership Seminar; “The Effects of Typographic and Color Variations on Recall of Information in Running Text Matter,” AEJMC; and “History of Public Relations in Great Britain,” Public Relations Review. "Higher Education in the Economic Equation" was the topic of her speech to the Mid-Ohio Valley Economic Roundtable. For the last nine years, Charlotte Hatfield has served as President of Washington State Community College in Marietta, Ohio. In May, she transitioned to a consulting position for the college.

Charlotte Hatfield has pursued her higher education career at several institutions. Before joining Washington State, Charlotte Hatfield was Executive Dean of the Elkhart Campus of Ivy Tech State College. Prior to that, she was Executive Director for Public Relations and Marketing for the 23-campus Ivy Tech System. Charlotte Hatfield began her higher education career as an Assistant Professor of Journalism at Ball State University, Muncie, Ind., where she was tenured and promoted to Associate Professor. Active at the state level in Ohio, Charlotte Hatfield co-chaired the Career Technology Education Credit Transfer Committee for the Ohio Department of Education and represented the community college sector on the statewide task force for High Quality High Schools. As a member of the Ohio Association of Community Colleges, Charlotte Hatfield served on the Executive Committee and chaired the Legislative Committee.
