Sy Le
A very common cause of infertility in female patients who come to Advanced Reproductive Care Center is abnormality of ovulation, as suggested by irregularities in the menstrual cycle. Dr Sy Le and his associates treat ovulatory dysfunction by using oral medications such as clomiphene and Femara. These medications stimulate the pituitary gland to release follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) to promote follicular growth and egg development. Dr. Sy Le often combines these medications with an injectable medication, human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), to increase the chances that the developed egg will be released. HCG also promotes the production of progesterone from the mature follicle to prepare the endometrium for embryo implantation.
If the oral agents fail to produce pregnancy after several treatment cycles, Dr Le usually recommends his patients to undergo diagnostic laparoscopy before proceeding to more aggressive ovulation induction methods, Laparoscopy can help evaluate the pelvis to rule out endometriosis and adhesions that can impede egg pickup by the tubes. Once all the abnormalities of the pelvis are treated, Dr. Le can use injectable medications containing concentrates of FSH and luteinizing hormone (LH) to stimulate the ovaries directly in order to produce 2-3 mature eggs. Patients who use injectable hormones must be closely monitored to minimize the risks of ovarian hyperstimulation and multiple pregnancies, and highly trained specialists like Dr. Sy Le can conduct these treatment cycles safely for his patients.
In keeping with his reputation for thoughtful medical care and dedication to making fertility treatments affordable for all, Dr. Sy Le engages in honest and straightforward discussion with his patients before any treatment. He carefully weighs the risks and benefits of each treatment with his patients and recommends the best route possible for each patient. He explains that injectable cycles can offer a higher rate of pregnancy than oral medications when combined with IUI. Dr. Le also cautions that women with stage 3 or 4 endometriosis are unlikely to benefit from ovulation induction and should consider proceeding directly to in vitro fertilization (IVF). Through recommendations based on his medical expertise and considerations for each patient's unique situation, Dr. Le has been known over the years to be one of the most compassionate and cost effective fertility specialists in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
