Michael Fertik
Michael Fertik is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Reputation.com, Inc., an industry pioneer in the field of online reputation management. Established in 2006 by Mr. Fertik and his colleague Owen Tripp, the company provides a growing number of products and services that empower Internet users to guard their privacy, their personal information, and their good name from individuals emboldened by the relative anonymity of the Internet to engage in destructive, slanderous behavior. Michael Fertik developed the company's premier product, MyReputation, and also created MyChild, a service designed to inform parents about their children's online activities and give them a means of protection against cyber bullying. Since then, Reputation.comâs product line has expanded to include ReputationDefender and MyReputation Discovery, both of which provide further online information management tools.
Along with his colleague David Thompson, Michael Fertik wrote the groundbreaking primer on Internet privacy and information protection issues, Wild West 2.0: How to Protect and Restore Your Reputation on the Untamed Social Frontier. In the book, Mr. Fertik and his co-author describe how the Internet's anonymity coupled with its lack of regulation create an environment in which people are vulnerable to slanderous attacks, identify and information theft, and invasions of privacy. Michael Fertik relates how Internet users can successfully take control of their online information and protect their reputation from abuse. Mr. Fertik also imparts his knowledge and expertise to the public as a regular guest on television news and talk shows, as a guest columnist for a number of major media outlets, and as a frequent lecturer on college campuses and before business audiences in the U.S. and other countries.
