About Me:
A prominent figure in the Miami-Dade County, Florida, community for more than 30 years, noted trial attorney Lance Stelzer has provided leadership to a wide variety of civic and educational organizations during his career. A member of the Miami-Dade County Nuisance Abatement Board since 1993, Lance Stelzer has spent the past decade as Vice Chairperson, managing various matters of public health and safety.
Recognized for his professional contributions as a judge and coach of debate teams, mock trials, and moot court events at high schools and colleges throughout Florida, Lance Stelzer has served as a judge in the University of Miami School of Law Mock Trial Competition, the Nova University School of Law Moot Court Competition, and the Thoroughbred Debate Competition.
Owing to his commitment to the state of Florida and countless contributions to the advancement of the legal profession, Lance Stelzer has earned numerous awards for his work, including Certificates of Appreciation from the Florida Department of Legal Affairs, the Dade County Pretrial Intervention Program, Dade County Public Schools, The Florida Bar, former Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas, and current Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez. Lance Stelzer has testified as an expert witness before state and federal courts in various areas of law, including probable cause to arrest, police tactics, and attorney fees. A 1973 graduate of the University of Florida’s Fredric G. Levin College of Law with honors, Lance Stelzer previously held positions as a Professor, Assistant Attorney General, and Assistant State Attorney before founding the Law Offices of Lance R. Stelzer, P.A. in 1980.
At his law office, Lance Stelzer specializes in civil litigation and criminal defense law, with a particular emphasis on matters related to probable cause, wrongful arrest, and civil rights violations. Lance Stelzer practices before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Eleventh and Fifth Circuits, and all state courts in Florida and California. Lance Stelzer continues to reside in Miami with his family.
