John Kai Lassen

Listed in Who’s Who in America and Who's Who in American Law for the past 20 years, John Kai Lassen serves as the Managing Director of Rockwick Capital, LLC, a company that provides bond financing and funding to the owners of mines and oil fields against their in-ground assets, an area of American finance that is often inadequately served. According to Mr. Lassen, while substantial assets may be in the ground, many owners lack the capital necessary to develop the necessary infrastructure to extract and market them. To meet their needs, he formed Rockwick Capital, LLC, in 2008.

John Kai Lassen established Rockwick Capital, LLC, after close to four decades of service, including for the premier Wall Street law firm of Lord Day & Lord in New York City and of the prestigious national corporate law firm of Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell in Wilmington Delaware. During this time, John Kai Lassen focused on Delaware corporate and securities law and was a registered Bond Counsel, experience that has proven invaluable as he has developed funding packages for Rockwick Capital, LLC’s clients.

John Kai Lassen, a graduate of the Choate School, who earned his BA from Yale University and his JD from the University of Pennsylvania, leads a rich, varied life outside the office. As the Governor of the Society of Mayflower Descendants of the State of Delaware, he is committed to the study of history and a deep understanding of the people and events that made America what it is today. Pursuant to these objectives, he is the Vice President of the National Huguenot Society in Delaware and belongs to the Sons of the American Revolution, the Sons of Colonial Wars, and the General Society of the War of 1812. Members of these societies can trace their lineage to the people involved in the events they commemorate. In John Kai Lassen’s case, he is a descendant of Mayflower passenger Richard Warren, one of the signers of the Mayflower Compact.

John Kai Lassen is also a member of the Rotary Club of Wilmington, Delaware, and served as its Secretary from 2005 to 2008, holding the same title for Rotary District 7630, which includes all 40 Rotary clubs from Maryland’s Eastern Shore and Delaware, from 2008 to 2009 and again from 2010 to 2011. In 2010, he also commenced his tenure as the Chairman of the Centennial Committee for the Rotary Club of Wilmington, a post whose duties he will fulfill until 2015. Additionally, he is the Editor of the Rotary Foundation Newsletter for the District and the District 7630 Newsletter.

In addition to John Kai Lassen’s professional achievements and involvement with a variety of historical societies and Rotary, he serves on the Delaware Nature Society’s Conservancy Committee.
