Janyce Lapore’s career as a playwright and screenwriter has met with remarkable success, with many of her works attracting professional accolades and praise from audiences. Most recently Janyce Lapore wrote the screenplay for the short film The Director, an Official Selection of the Action On Film International Film Festival, about a Catholic priest who finds himself entangled in a spiritual retreat gone awry. Many of the protagonists Janyce Lapore creates are working class or professional figures caught in desperate or complex situations. Her characters are provocative, intense and at times, organically very funny. A talented dramatist, Janyce Lapore creates equally inspiring works for film. In 2010 alone, Janyce Lapore’s feature screenplay 10 Minutes From Paradise achieved 10 industry awards and nominations, including Best Screenplay from New York City ACEFEST and Best Screenplay from the Independent Film Gathering Film Festival. In 10 Minutes From Paradise, Janyce Lapore artfully relates the day-to-day challenges of three friends eking out an existence in New York City until they come across a dangerous yet tempting opportunity to fulfill their dreams of success. Following the success of this adventurous tale, Janyce Lapore received the Arthur Rosenfeld Award for Excellence in Writing and the Ablility to tell an Outstanding Story. In addition to being a playwright and screenwriter, Janyce Lapore also served as writing coach for a well-known novelist. When she has free time, Janyce Lapore enjoys rollerblading and playing volleyball.
