Ian McHenry
After graduating from Princeton in 2005, Ian McHenry used his exemplary academic record and proven entrepreneurial ability to begin a career in investment banking, followed by a transition to management consulting. A recipient of grants from the Department of Politics and the Dean of the College while at Princeton, Ian McHenry’s undergraduate thesis in Politics concerned the role of international support and state politics in Muslim separatist movements. For all four of his years at Princeton, Ian McHenry ran Campus Newspaper Delivery Agency, overseeing a staff of 25 and managing annual net revenues of nearly $250,000.
Post-graduation, Ian McHenry spent nearly a year working in Florida for Raymond James Financial, Inc. as an Investment Banking Analyst, where he focused on the aviation, transportation, and environmental markets. McHenry then returned to his home state of California to work in a similar capacity for Deutsche Bank, a top tier investment bank. From there, McHenry leveraged his skills in financial analysis and his previous experience in the aviation sector to become a Consultant for Oliver Wyman Group, an international management-consulting firm. Ian McHenry spent almost three years working for the San Francisco office, excelling with his advanced knowledge of operations and financial modeling and strategic business design.
A proven leader from his Princeton University days, when he led freshman orientation wilderness trips designed to foster self-sufficiency in both the outdoors and the university environment, Ian McHenry parlayed his own sense of self-reliance into a position in Kenya in 2009. Serving as a Program Associate for One Acre Fund, a farming microfinance program based out of Bungoma, Kenya, the position required all of Ian McHenry’s well-defined managerial and finance faculties, as well as his international sensibility and experience working in diverse environments. Currently sailing across the Asia Pacific as the Skipper of the S/V Air Gadis, Ian McHenry enjoys motorcycling and viticulture in his leisure.
