Brit Railston

With more than 15 years of experience in capital markets equity and sales trading, Brit Railston holds management responsibilities with RBC Capital Markets. Working out of the Canadian firm’s Boston office, Brit Railston oversees additional equity office branches in Dallas and Chicago. In total, he holds responsibility for 25 traders who collectively generate annual revenue in the $70 million range. Mr. Railston and his team pursue opportunities in electronic trading, foreign exchange, derivative, and fixed-income strategies.

Prior to taking his current position as Managing Director, Brit Railston led RBC Capital Markets’ U.S. NASDAQ Trading platform, notably transitioning the desk from Minneapolis to New York. In addition to building a new trading desk from the ground up, he led and co-managed more than 50 initial public offerings, also trading numerous secondary offerings. He was additionally responsible for weekly teleconference presentations on U.S. equity activity to 200 key personnel.

Brit Railston earned his BS in Business Administration, with a Minor in Theology, in 1993 from Ambassador University in Big Sandy, Texas. During his undergraduate studies, he played varsity basketball and participated in intramural sports. Mr. Railston subsequently pursued an MBA in Finance at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. As an Investment Club member, he coordinated job recruitment activities, also undertaking responsibilities as MBA program recruitment coordinator.

Prior to joining RBC Capital Markets in 1996 (then known as Dain, Rauscher, Wessels), Mr. Railston gained two years of financial services experience in the Milwaukee area. As Derivatives Investment Specialist with Strong Capital Management, Inc., he monitored mutual fund activity and maintained compliance in addition to modeling the fund’s derivative positions.

An active community member, Brit Railston supports charitable organizations such as the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House.
