Abdul Rasheed Khan MD
Trained and educated in ophthalmology and vitreo-retinal surgery, Abdul Rasheed Khan, M.D., has maintained involvement in a variety of academic, professional, and philanthropic endeavors. After completing his education at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Shreveport and LSU School of Medicine, as well as his clinical training with LSU Medical Center and LSU Health Sciences Center, Dr. Abdul Rasheed Khan traveled to India for nearly a year. During this trip, Dr. Khan joined other ophthalmologists in cataract camps, where they learned about the field and helped people in need. Later, he took sabbatical leave to travel around the nation and help youths in underprivileged areas by arranging activities to develop their mental, emotional, and spiritual abilities. Today, while practicing medicine at Advanced Retinal Institute in Illinois, Abdul Rasheed Khan, M.D., continues to donate his time and money to a number of nonprofit organizations. Abdul Rasheed Khan, M.D., spent most of his professional life in Louisiana, his home state. He most recently resided in Baton Rouge. Along with attending school and receiving his clinical training there, Dr. Khan successfully completed his Vitreo-Retinal Surgery fellowship at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, eventually continuing on as an Attending/Staff Physician. In this role, he cared for patients and taught other doctors, fellows, residents and medical students. Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center in Houma, Louisiana, also hired Dr. Khan as a Staff Physician in its Ophthalmology Department. In addition, Abdul Rasheed Khan, M.D., spent four years at Vitreo-Retinal Institute in Baton Rouge, garnering a number of accolades from peers and professional groups. Holding active medical licenses in the states of Illinois, Louisiana, and Tennessee, Abdul Rasheed Khan, MD, enjoys spending time with his family. Actively involved in the medical field, Dr. Khan belongs to several professional organizations such as the American Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology, East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Society, and the Southern Medical Association. Dr. Abdul Rasheed Khan also ranks as a Board-Certified Diplomate with the American Board of Ophthalmology.
