Russell Pottharst

As a consultant specializing in program and project management, Russell Pottharst has spent more than 20 years employing his expertise with various companies in California, Louisiana, and Michigan, as well as in several European countries. Russell Pottharst earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Tulane University in 1993; two years later, he received his Master of Business Administration in International Business Management from nearby Loyola University New Orleans. He graduated from both prestigious institutions while working full-time at two New Orleans banks. It was through these professional experiences that Russell Pottharst was first able to apply his computer systems knowledge and managerial aptitude. After leaving Louisiana in 1996, Russell Pottharst continued to grow professionally through hard work and a keen eye for challenging opportunities. From 1997 and 2007, he held project management positions at Electronic Data Systems Corporation in Troy, Michigan, and SAS Institute Inc. in San Francisco. Russell Pottharst’s diligence led to promotions to senior-level management at both companies. Mr. Pottharst currently works as a Project Manager for the Ascent Services Group, focusing his efforts on Amgen, Inc., one of the company’s biotechnology and pharmaceutical accounts. He resides in Newbury Park, California. Since 1996, Russell Pottharst has been a committed member of the Project Management Institute (PMI). Mr. Pottharst also served as Director of Operations and Vice President of Education and Certification, in addition to contributing to the development of certification prerequisites and credentialing guidelines for PMI. Russell Pottharst’s contributions also extend to local civic enterprises. When he resided in New Orleans, Mr. Pottharst was the team leader of a Chamber of Commerce membership drive; he won an award for enticing WWL-TV, the largest broadcasting organization, to join the association. Russell Pottharst also served as the Departmental Campaign Coordinator of the New Orleans chapter of United Way Worldwide. He achieved 100% employee participation during his tenure. He also served as Board Commissioner and Treasurer of the New Orleans City Park Improvement Association as well as Board Director for the Louisiana chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Additionally, Russell Pottharst founded the annual Kids’ Day Event in New Orleans and raised $23,000 for charity during the two years he served as Chairman.
