Rena Ackerman
Currently making her home in Scarsdale, New York, Rena Ackerman graduated from New York University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Ackerman subsequently began studies at Long Island University's Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, which she completed in 1984. She first began working at Shalom Pharmacy in Kew Gardens Hills, New York, filling prescriptions and dispensing advice to customers. Ackerman next worked for Riverdale Pharmacy, and later accepted a position as Head Pharmacist for ACE Pharmacy in Riverdale, New York.
Rena Ackerman is engaged in such charitable endeavors as A Package from Home, collecting donations to fill care packages to send to Israeli soldiers, and contributes to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. Ackerman was involved in fundraising for the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) during the years that her children were enrolled in Westchester Day School in Mamaroneck, New York, and is a former Sisterhood President for Young Israel of New Rochelle.
Travel remains one of Rena Ackerman greatest interests. She has visited Israel numerous times, but her favorite place to visit remains Paris, France. Ackerman enjoys touring the museums and other cultural landmarks of the French capital—the Louvre, Notre Dame de Paris, and the Luxembourg Gardens, as well as the historic Latin Quarter at the heart of the city—and dining at the city’s many kosher restaurants, bistros, and cafés. When not traveling, Ackerman also enjoys jogging and skiing, as well as curling up with a good book.
