Pamela Cowell
Obstetrician and gynecologist Pamela Cowell, M.D. has received a number of accolades before and during her 30-plus-year career. She earned several scholarships to attend Kalamazoo College, including the Richard Light Scholarship and a scholarship from the KatharineTuck Foundation and a full scholarship from the MIchigan Higher-Education Assistance Authority. Dr. Pamela D. Cowell also held membership in the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society while in college.
After obtaining her medical degree, Dr. Cowell held several teaching positions in well-known hospitals. At Johns Hopkins, she served as an Instructor of Gynecology and Obstetrics and the Medical Director of the Adolescent Pregnancy Program, in the late 1970s, returning to the institution in 1989 to serve as a Part-time Clinical Instructor. She also held faculty positions at Georgetown University Hospital, The George Washington University Hospital, and Case Western Reserve University as a Clinical Instructor in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Including fewer than 28,000 physicians, Who’s Who in American Medicine counts Pamela Cowell, M.D., among those it lists. Additionally, the staff of Good Samaritan Hospital Birth Center in Puyallup, Washington, named her Physician of the Month in December of 2004, an award only five other obstetricians have ever received.
Colleagues of Pamela Cowell, M.D., also laud her professionalism, bedside manner, and fine surgical abilities. A certified registered nurse anesthetist who worked with her often found her very respectful of other members of the surgical team while maintaining control of the procedure at all times.
