Mary Gregor
Mary Gregor studied Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Maine. At the Orono, Maine, institution, Mary Gregor paid for her education by working on the potato farm where she spent her childhood. Subsequently, Mary Gregor learned about the landscape of Maine as a self-employed real estate investor. Since 1993, Mary Gregor has managed the Meadows and Mountains Trust based out of in Amity, Maine. As the sole Trustee for Meadows and Mountains Trust, Mary Gregor holds full responsibility for the many of the organization’s activities, including buying and selling land on behalf of the trust and interacting with key figures, such as attorneys and surveyors. Further showing her desire to sustain the aesthetic beauty of the state, Mary Gregor gave easements to The Forest Society of Maine that enabled the group to protect hundreds of acres of land and sold over 500 acres of coastal property to The Maine Coast Heritage Trust at a heavily discounted price. Her efforts involving the preservation of waterfront property earned Mary Gregor plaques of appreciation from The Forest Society of Maine in 2008 and 2011. When not aiding the trust, Mary Gregor's appreciation of nature extends from her private life, residing on an old farm, fishing, canoeing, taking her dog on nature walks, and photographing wildlife. Additionally, Mary Gregor donates to a hospital, food pantry, local theater company, and the Ark Animal Sanctuary.
