Laurel Blond
Insurance expert Laurel Blond passionately speaks on insurance subjects at seminars throughout New York City. She gained her vast industry knowledge through more than 25 years with the Maurice Blond Agency in Manhattan. Though she began this stage of her career selling insurance, Blond now runs the company as President. The Maurice Blond Agency boasts a number of influential and prestigious clients, such the Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Properties, Inc., and his wife,, the creative mind behind a designer jewelry collection called Fragments. The company also serves photographer Zion Ozeri, Luxury handbag designer Sang A Im-Propp, and the owner of the Amazing Savings chain of stores, Mr. Samuel Friedland.
The agency was founded by Laurel Blond’s late father, Maurice Blond, who promoted public housing through the 1930s and served as the Educational Director of the Henry Street Settlement Federal Credit Union. He convinced his daughter to join him in 1985, despite her educational background and thriving career in occupational therapy. Blond left her position as Head of the Department of Physical and Occupational Therapy at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital to work with her father.
Currently, Blond lives in Monsey, New York, with her husband, Rabbi Leib Tropper, who helped to found the Kol Yaakov Torah Center. Tropper is heavily involved in outreach initiatives that his wife also supports, such as the Association for Jewish Outreach Programs. Before taking on the mantle of agency President, Blond studied occupational therapy at Tufts University. She also earned a Master’s degree in Education from Harvard University and is a member of that institution’s alumni association.
