Jorge Carrasco, Superintendent of Seattle City Light for the past seven years, resides in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle. A hardworking chief executive for the ninth-largest public utility company in the United States, Mr. Carrasco oversees Seattle City Light’s delivery of power to the metropolitan area and parts of unincorporated King County. The century-old utility firm also serves customers in neighboring Burien, SeaTac, Normandy Park, Tukwila, and Renton. Apart from his duties at Seattle City Light, Jorge Carrasco enjoys participating in local, regional, and national organizations. He holds professional memberships with the American Public Power Association, the Electric Power Research Institute, and the Large Public Power Council, on which Mr. Carrasco recently served as Board Chair. Mr. Carrasco's past affiliations have included the International City/County Management Association and the American Water Works Association. Jorge Carrasco also supports Seattle City Light's Project Share, which allows ratepayers to make direct contributions into a fund for low-income residents who are unable to afford their power bills. Jorge Carrasco is also active in community organizations and national nonprofits. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Washington chapter of The Nature Conservancy and the Board of Trustees for Seattle Community Colleges. Mr. Carrasco also supports the South Seattle Community College Foundation. The foundation promotes and finances training and education programs at the institution. Besides academic scholarships, the Foundation also offers child support grants and maintains an emergency fund for students. Mr. Carrasco is active at his local parish, Our Lady of Fatima, and in the Annual Bishop’s Appeal, part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle. During his leisure hours, Jorge Carrasco enjoys photography, reading, and attending the theater. He remains active by running and hiking in the beautiful Puget Sound area.
