Nijad Fares
Currently residing in Houston with their four children, Nijad and Zeina Fares have demonstrated an impressive history of community service, non-profit organizational support, and philanthropic excellence. A trustee emeritus of International College in Lebanon and a member of the Professional Board of Advisors of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Nijad Fares has garnered numerous accolades for his efforts serving the community. In 2003, he accepted the National Order of the Cedar from the Lebanese government. Mr. Fares also received the International Executive of the Year award from the Greater Houston Partnership and the National Ethnic Coalition of Organization’s Ellis Island Medal of Honor. In addition, Nijad Fares earned the Mexican government’s Legion of Honor.
Zeina Fares has also maintained an equally impressive commitment to her community. Currently serving on the Board of Trustees of the Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, Mrs. Fares is dedicated to helping young women prepare for college by nurturing their emotional, spiritual, and intellectual potential. Mrs. Fares also sits on the Development Committee of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the board of Inprint, a nationally recognized literary arts and cultural non-profit organization.
As a testament to their generosity and enduring commitment to philanthropic endeavors, in 2011 both Nijad and Zeina Fares were granted an audience with His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI to receive his blessing. Although the Fares family is not Catholic, His Holiness appointed Nijad Fares a Knight of The Papal Order of Saint Gregory.
