Eugene Gorab

In 1997, Eugene Gorab opened the doors to Greenfield Partners, LLC, a real estate private equity firm. Since then, he has grown the business from 2 employees to 52, and the firm takes responsibility for real estate and operating companies worth more than $7 billion. Each of Greenfield Partners’ principals personally invests in the firm’s holdings, instilling confidence in clients by putting their own money on the line for their recommendations. Eugene Gorab believes much of his firm’s success lies in his group of professional investors, and he strives to create an open, team-oriented environment, as well as retain employees long-term. Eugene Gorab also attributes Greenfield’s healthy business to his commitment to building strong industry relationships and investing with operating partners to reach company objectives.

Prior to opening Greenfield Partners, Eugene Gorab helped found Starwood Capital Group, where he served as a Founding Partner and Managing Director from 1991 to 1997. There, along with three partners, he specialized in real estate and headed the company’s development and land groups. In addition, Eugene Gorab participated on Starwood Financial Trust’s Board of Trustees, oversaw Starwood Asset Management, and acted as a senior member of the Investment Committee. Eugene Gorab successfully invested more than $2 billion at Starwood, much of which included RTC distressed mortgages.

Before he founded Starwood Capital Group, Eugene Gorab served as Acquisitions Officer for JMB Realty Corporation, where he oversaw the JMB Apartment Funds I and II. Prior to that position, he functioned as Project Engineer for Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., where he took responsibility for three plants in California, Ohio, and Ontario, which processed liquid nitrogen and liquid oxygen.

Eugene Gorab holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Bucknell University. While he earned his degree, he served as the President for a local chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He later enrolled in The University of Chicago, a top U.S. business school, where he earned a Master of Business Administration. Eugene Gorab maintains membership in various professional societies, including the Pension Real Estate Association, the Urban Land Institute, and The Real Estate Roundtable. In addition, he remains a Trustee of Bucknell University.
