Colleen Barney
Colleen Barney has an abundance of hobbies and passions that she enjoys pursuing. She is actively involved in the organization, Southern California Striders, which is a track and field club of youths, open, sub-masters, masters and seniors track and field athletes in the pursuit of excellence through camaraderie and competition. This organization aims at promoting health, well-being, and competition through all levels of ages and activities. Ms. Barney also fully immerses herself into her community. She formerly worked on the board of human options, and she also collected and delivered supplies to Poli Village School in Tanzania. Barney also assisted with providing numerous travel funds to this year’s Beijing Olympic athletes. Colleen is also an advocate of her local schools, as she is Parliamentarian of the PTA board for Newport Heights Elementary, as well as currently sitting on the GATE parent Advisory Committee for the Newport Mesa Unified School District. Aside from being an ambitious philanthropist, Colleen Barney is a managing partner at Albrecht & Barney law firm, which she joined in 1995. Before joining Albrecht & Barney, Barney worked at Jackson DeMarco & Peckenpaugh. Barney’s firm specializes in providing advanced Estate and Gift tax planning for high net worth individuals and business owners. The firm also practices wills, living trusts, irrevocable trusts, family limited partnerships and limited liability companies. A significant portion of the firm’s practice is dedicated to the representation of families of substantial wealth in connection with planning for the succession of the family business.
