Steven deLaroche
Possessing more than 20 years of experience and expertise as an attorney and judge, Steven deLaroche practices criminal, family, and business law. He has tried more than 175 civil and criminal cases and presided over many more. Steven deLaroche began his career as a prosecutor in the Office of the State Attorney of the Seventh Judicial Circuit in Florida. In this role, he prosecuted misdemeanors; felonies, including child-sex crimes; and capital cases. Steven deLaroche also co-led the office’s Career Criminal Division for nine months.
After four years, Steven deLaroche left the Office of the State Attorney to practice criminal law at the Law Offices of David R. Damore. Subsequently, the attorney founded the Law Offices of Steven N.J. deLaroche, where he represented small businesses, particularly in the personal-service and construction sectors, in commercial and contract matters. He also handled family law and criminal cases, appearing as an attorney for the latter trials before the Juvenile, County, and Circuit Courts of the Seventh Judicial Circuit.
For six years, beginning in 2000, attorney Steven deLaroche served as a County Judge in Volusia, elected twice by the voters of the Florida county. In this capacity, he presided over the county’s largest criminal docket and over civil trials as well. Steven deLaroche was responsible for a number of injunction cases involving repeat violence and later became Chief Administrative County Judge, elected by his peers. The youngest such judge in state history, he restructured the system of case distribution and managed the administration of justice for the court system, overseeing eight judges. Steven deLaroche subsequently returned to his practice as an attorney in Daytona Beach, where he focuses on business, family law, and criminal defense.
As Chairman of the Volusia County Elections Canvassing Board, Steven deLaroche held supervisory responsibility for the 2004 Presidential primary and main elections. The attorney also served as Chairman of the county’s Probation Selection Committee. In teaching roles, he acted as an instructor at the DeLand Citizens Police Academy and as an adjunct professor at Daytona Beach Community College. On his path to becoming an attorney, Steven deLaroche earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at The State University of New York at Potsdam and a Juris Doctor at Stetson University College of Law in Florida.
