Ray Sayeed
Frankfort, Illinois, resident Ray Sayeed leads a life full of volunteer activities as well as work- and school-related endeavors. In addition to these commitments, Ray Sayeed manages to make time for sports. He is a skilled golfer and has participated in junior golf at Olympia Fields Country Club, where he won a certificate of recognition for outstanding performance. He also competed on men’s varsity and junior varsity golf teams. Additionally, Ray Sayeed enjoys playing basketball and tennis; in 2008, he won third place in the men's junior varsity tennis singles state competition. In the fall of 2010, Ray Sayeed entered Loyola University Chicago in Illinois, where he is currently pursuing studies in pre-med and business. Prior to enrolling at this private, community-service-oriented university, Ray Sayeed gained a considerable amount of experience in the medical and business fields through both volunteer and paid work. While he attended Lincoln-Way East High School, he became involved in a number of extracurricular activities: he served as Vice President of the Future Business Leaders of America and took on the title of Student Ambassador. In the latter capacity, Ray Sayeed was in charge of making transfer students feel welcome and comfortable at their new school. In addition, Ray Sayeed organized events to bring together the community and school through his high school’s Key Club. During high school, Ray Sayeed traveled to rural India to motivate underprivileged children at Crescent High School, and he received a community service certificate for his dedication. At SUFFAH Educational and Guidance Center, Ray Sayeed earned a letter of recognition for his volunteer services; there, he tutored ESL children and their parents in a low-income Chicago school. While still in high school, Ray Sayeed attended Moraine Valley Community College to earn college credits, and he worked as a data entry clerk for Vital Home and Healthcare, Inc. In 2008, he volunteered at St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Chicago as a greeter, helping to transport patients and assisting all staff members. In 2009, Ray Sayeed took a position at a medical office and shadowed both the primary care physician and a pediatrician. Continuing his volunteer work, in 2008 and 2009 Ray Sayeed again traveled to India to work with the Al-Kareem Welfare Society. With Al-Kareem, Ray Sayeed assisted the doctors who provided free medical screenings and awareness to people in rural India.
