Ray Bandlow
With four years of service as the Superintendent of Schools for Fort Lee Public Schools in New Jersey, Dr. Raymond Bandlow uses his professional experience and passion for education to help his students realize their full potential. Studying at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Ray Bandlow earned Bachelor's degrees in Humanities and Sciences and Secondary Teaching. Continuing his studies at EMU, Ray Bandlow graduated with a Master of Arts in History before transferring to the Rackham Graduate School at the University of Michigan to pursue his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. Dr. Bandlow completed postdoctoral programs related to cultural diversity and equal opportunity at the Teachers College, Columbia University, and at the Harvard Center for Law and Education. As the Superintendent of Schools for the 10,000 students in the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District from 1990 to 1996, Ray Bandlow utilized more than $140 million in the construction of new schools and the improvement of existing buildings. During Dr. Bandlow's tenure there, West Windsor-Plainsboro led the state in National Merit Scholars. After spending four years working with the National Science Resources Center and Kean University developing partnerships between schools and foundations to overhaul science programs in over 150 school districts, Ray Bandlow returned to the position as Superintendent of Schools in 2001 for Hillside Public Schools. Supervising a much smaller student body than at West Windsor-Plainsboro, Dr. Bandlow helped generate resources for the struggling district, reduced violence and vandalism by more than 50%, and increased test scores and enrollment in Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Today, Ray Bandlow achieves similar results at Fort Lee Public Schools, increasing AP class enrollment by 58.5%, raising test scores in language and math skills, and earning the district its first United States Department of Education Blue Ribbon School recognition. Dr. Bandlow currently holds Superintendent of Schools licenses in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
