A highly respected lawyer with a reputation for obtaining results for his clients, Myron Cherry has more than 48 years of experience in civil and commercial law. The founder of Myron M. Cherry and Associates, Myron Cherry has built a solid career as both an upstanding member of the bar and as a civic leader.
A graduate of the University of Illinois and Northwestern University School of Law, Myron Cherry carved out a name for excellence with such honors as induction to the Order of the Coif and editorial duties for Northwest University’s chapter of Law Review. After graduating from law school in 1962, Myron Cherry cut his teeth as a trial lawyer before opening his own firm in 1973. Since then, Myron Cherry has been an advocate of using contingency contracts to give legal access to clients who might not otherwise be able to afford the long and expensive trial process.
Among the many landmark cases Myron Cherry has successfully handled for his clients is a fair representation lawsuit against the Air Line Pilots Association, International by senior pilots of United Airlines. The lawsuit was settled out of court following a string of successful legal maneuvers by Myron Cherry, resulting in a $44 million settlement for the plaintiffs. It was the largest settlement realized in a lawsuit of its type at the time. Myron Cherry also won a $25.5 million settlement for his client, Ventas, Inc., which sued its former law firm, New York-based Sullivan & Cromwell, for legal malpractice related to corporate reorganization. In addition to major settlements for large organizations and corporations, Myron Cherry has represented thousands of everyday clients in successful legal actions. Myron Cherry is a member of the bar in Illinois, California, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia, and has argued before the United States Supreme Court.
Although he maintains a very busy legal practice, Myron Cherry serves as an Adjunct Professor for Northwestern University School of Law, where he teaches Trial Practice. A former Trustee of the Democratic National Committee, Myron Cherry continues to serve the Democratic community. A supporter of the Chicago Symphony, Myron Cherry enjoys sports and jazz.
