Judith Hagan
Judith Hagan has 29 years of experience in nursing and 17 years of experience in midwifery. She completed her education in midwifery at the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1982 and her nurse-midwifery certification in 1994. In total, Judith Hagan has attended more than 700 births, all of which took place in the home or outside of a hospital.
Judith Hagan showed an interest in babies and birth from a young age, taking after her grandmother, who was a baby nurse. Currently, Ms. Hagan works as a family nurse and midwife through her company, Babycatcher Midwifery. Judith Hagan’s services include prenatal consultations and information and postpartum visits; she also provides the option of water birth, which many women claim relaxes the mother and offers a potentially easier birth experience for the baby. In addition, Judith Hagan is on the faculty at the National College of Midwifery in Taos, New Mexico.
Judith Hagan believes that home birth can be a sensible and safe alternative to hospital birth. Benefits of home birth include the baby’s continued contact with the mother; the ability to give birth in a comfortable and familiar environment; and the relationship the mother develops with the midwife and birthing attendants. Many of Judith Hagan’s former clients have related positive home-birth experiences, not just with the birth itself but also in relation to prenatal and postnatal services. Prospective mothers can view testimonials and read more about Ms. Hagan’s services at Babycatcher.com.
