David Faxon

An experienced physician, David Faxon treats heart patients in addition to teaching aspiring doctors. Throughout his career, David Faxon has conducted research and published scientic papers in medical journals. Currently a Vice Chair of Medicine for Strategic Planning for Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, he continues to serve patients while developing strategy for the organization.

Known as an expert in cardiology, David Faxon possesses nearly 40 years of experience in medicine. Having begun his career as a Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at University Hospital in Boston (now Boston Medical Center), David Faxon later was appointed as an Acting Chief of Cardiology.

David Faxon then moved to the University of Southern California (USC) Medical Center and USC University Hospital, where he became a Chief of the Division of Cardiology. During his tenure at USC, David Faxon also served as a Director of the Cardiovascular Diseases Fellowship Program at the USC School of Medicine.

After seven years in California, David Faxon accepted an offer to be Chief of the Section of Cardiology for the University of Chicago Medical Center. In 2006, David Faxon returned to Boston to join Brigham and Women’s Hospital as a Vice Chair of Medicine for Integrated Clinical Services. At the same time, David Faxon managed a team as a Chief of Cardiology for the Boston Health Care System and the West Roxbury Division of the Veterans Administration.

David Faxon also participates in such professional societies as the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association.
