Dr. Stacy Smith Memphis
Board certified Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Stacy Smith of Memphis, Tennessee, maintains privileges with the Baptist Memorial Health Care system facilities in Memphis and in DeSoto, Mississippi; Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital; and St. Francis Hospital-Memphis. Treating patients with compassionate care in her position at the Memphis Heart Clinic, P.L.C., Dr. Smith is a team member of a recognized leader in cardiac care. Dr. Stacy Smith maintains a focus on women’s heart health, and is a member of the Memphis chapter of the American Heart Association. She has a special interest in cardio-oncology.
Dr. Stacy Smith formed an interest in medicine at a young age. Seeking opportunities to pursue her interest as early as high school, she volunteered at a number of facilities, such as the City of Hope in Southern California. Dr Smith attended Claremont McKenna College in California, majored in chemistry, and graduated cum laude. After beginning her medical study at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., she received her medical degree from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. Dr. Stacy Smith relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, shortly after receiving her degree, and completed her postgraduate education as an intern and resident at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Additionally, she served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at the Brockton VA Hospital in Brockton, Massachusetts. She next pursued a research fellowship in immunology with the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pathology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Smith undertook clinical fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology through the University’s affiliated Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She received a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship to assist in her studies.
Since completing her formal education, Dr. Stacy Smith has continued to contribute to many areas of research in heart health and internal medicine. She served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pathology at the Washington University School of Medicine. Over her extensive academic training and career, Dr. Smith’s research has assisted a Monsanto Company program investigating autoimmune myocarditis, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s pilot study of “The Effects of T Cell Mediated Inflammation on Lipoprotein Oxidation and Atherosclerosis,” and the National Institutes of Health’s four-year study of “T Cell Mediated Inflammation and Atherosclerosis.” Outside of her role as an experienced Interventional Cardiologist in the Memphis area, Dr. Stacy Smith continues to serve as a valued medical professional for a number of investigational research studies.
