Jay Reibel
Though psychiatrist Dr. Jay Reibel no longer practices, his work in the field has made a long-lasting impact. While he was active, he founded Preferred Health Care, Ltd., a disease management company with a huge outreach. The company managed mental health services and workers’ compensation for more than 11 million Americans by the time it was sold to a larger health care company. Dr. Jay Reibel also helped with the founding of several private psychiatric hospitals known as the Four Winds Hospitals, with locations in New York and Illinois.
Dr. Jay Reibel spent the majority of his private practice in New York City after attending Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and returning to New York to complete his residency. Dr. Jay Reibel supplemented his career through membership and participation with several boards and professional organizations, including the Board of Directors of BlueCross BlueShield of New York and the Board of the New York County Medical Society. He also lent his experience as the Chairman of the Committee on Financing Health Care of the American Psychiatric Association.
Aside from his involvement in medicine, Dr. Jay Reibel also possesses a deep interest in the humanities. Notably, the doctor was appointed by President George Bush to sit on the U.S. Advisory Committee on the Arts at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Additionally, he participated as a member of the Board of the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy and the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College.
In his free time, Dr. Jay Reibel maintains affiliations with several social societies, including the Knickerbocker Club, the New York Yacht Club, the Lyford Cay Club, and several clubs in London. He is an active member of the Republican Party and has served on the board of directors of the Republican National Finance Committee.
