David Bilskemper
As the Band Director at Rosemead High School, David Bilskemper lives and breathes music. His everyday responsibilities include teaching beginning band, guitar classes, marching band, string orchestra, and concert band, as well as serving as the Department Chair for Music. He is an active member of the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering musical education in both students and teachers of music. Since 2003, Mr. Bilskemper’s dedication and passion have helped his students win many awards. In 2004 and 2005, the marching band won second place in the Sherman Oaks Band Review. Rosemead High’s concert band won silver ratings at the Heritage Festival in 2007 and at the Forum Music Festival in 2005 and 2006. Additionally, he assembled Rosemead High’s first string orchestra class, and organized the school’s first ever band field show to enter into a competition. From 1996-2001, David Bilskemper attended the University of Wisconsin in Stevens Point to study for his Bachelor of Music Education, where he was a member of the Wind Ensemble, the Jazz Ensemble, and the University Orchestra. In 2001, he graduated summa cum laude and was honored with the Outstanding Senior Award for the Music Department. Mr. Bilskemper then went on to study music composition and music performance at the University of Southern California in 2001, earning his Masters of Music Performance in 2003. In his spare time, David Bilskemper loves to read, study musical scores, compose music, watch movies, travel, and bowl. He also likes to keep in shape by running.
